The Simpsons: No Loan Again, Naturally

Season 20, Episode 12: No Loan Again, Naturally

Over borrowing and disregard for his mortgage, Homer finds himself unable to pay back his debts – as his mortgage has reset. This puts the house right up for auction and the Simpsons on the streets. However, their friendly neighbour, Ned Flanders comes to the rescue and buys their house – and rents it out to them. However, they push their luck by taking advantage of Ned and thus forcing Ned to take landlord actions.

This episode is quite reminiscent of the current home foreclosure situation in the US. However, it is quite funny to see how the Simpsons manage to abuse their good fortune. The star of the show here is Ned and Homer, although we do get appearances of Marge, Bart and Lisa.

Blackboard Joke: I will not have fun with educational toys.

Couch Gag: The family heads out to a “couch ranch” to purchase a new one after coming home to discover the old one dead. After the new couch bucks off Homer, the rest of the family “tames” it.

Allusions:

  • The title of this episode is a play on the title of the 1972 Gilbert O’Sullivan song “Alone Again (Naturally)”

Personal Rating: 4.5/5
